All Things Mission Trip

We believe sometimes "life" can get in the way of the things God has in store for us. This time of "Vacation" away from regular life can be the most refreshing and renewing week of the year, if you allow it to be.

Anyone ages 12 to 100+ is welcome to join us for one week of ministry, worship, and fun! The cost this year is $140.00, and it covers your food, lodging, insurance, safety, and travel for the week. WOW - can't beat that!

We welcome you, young and not so young, to join us for this special week! You do not have to be a church member, or even a regular attender, to come with us on this special journey. Come and see what the Lord can do for you!

Ministry

During the day we focus on others in a community here in Mississippi. We drive (in a very long caravan Laughing) far enough away to be classified as "away." We believe there are many communities here in Mississippi who need as much service and ministering as any city or town "overseas." So, we spend the days completing small repair and painting projects* within the chosen community. The community makes announcements through radio and newspaper about our ministry, and people from the community fill out applications about the work they would like to be completed on their homes. Due to the fact that many of our mission trippers are not full time construction workers, many of our projects are more simple ones, such as painting or cleaning a home. We are able, however, to complete some more complicated projects, and have completed several, such as tarring a roof and building wheelchair ramps.

Fellowship and Food

Sometime in the late afternoon, the groups come back to "camp" and take showers (thankfully) and prepare for the evening meal and activities. We join together for a wonderful time of eating, sharing, and fun. Groups complete team building activities and Biblical lessons that grow them as individuals and as a group. Each year has it's own theme (relating to our church theme for the year) and we complete some huge project that demonstrates the group's individual take on the theme. We have painted banners, rocks, plaques, and more. Sound a little Vacation Bible School-ish? Maybe :) But it's a lot more spiritual than that..

Worship

The evenings are the best part of all! Each night we spend several hours in praise and worship. There are skits, messages, prayer, and praise and worship music. We start each evening with the theme video for that year. They are created to give a picture of the theme for the week, and to prepare us after the time of fun and fellowship for a time of praise. Spending so much time in the word and ministering to others really helps clear the mind and soul, and often God is able to speak in awesome ways during these nights. Many have come to salvation (yes, we take non-churched, non-Christian people on mission trip) and almost all have walked away changed somehow. Hardly anyone who has been doesn't have a wonderful story of what God did for them on a mission trip. The time of rest, restoration, and refreshment is a perfect mid-year activity that gives us new strength and life for the year to come...

Age, health, and ability limitations are taken into consideration when assigning persons to groups, and groups to tasks. If you want to attend, but are limited in your physical activity, just let us know - we would still LOVE to have to come. There's always the cook team...!
